See you Monday, November 10th!

Calling all independent school art teachers in the SF Bay Area- we hope you will join us Monday November 10th from 8:30-12:30 at Katherine Delmar Burke School! Lunch will be provided. Please RSVP by FRIDAY OCT 31 to pedro [at] kdbs.org and avalentine [at] mcds.org if you plan on coming, and include any topics that you hope to discuss. Details below.

There will be 2 workshop/breakout times for discussions. One will be devoted to topics of interest (e.g.,: assessment, the maker movement) and one will be for sharing a project you are excited about this year. 

Please plan on bringing:
-Examples or photos of a project that you are excited about.
-One book, lesson plan, resource list or rubric that you refer to or use often. If it is something you can make copies of please bring 25 copies. 

Teachers who have attended these get-togethers in the past have come away with new ideas, new collaborations, and a strengthened sense of community.
We look forward to reconnecting and meeting new people.

Timeframe:
Full time/M‐F September 1 – October 17th,
60% time M/T/Th October 20‐December 1.
Teaching Responsibilities

  • Prepare and implement lessons (grades K‐4). 
  • Collaborate with Art Co‐Teacher on shared curriculum, organization of art room, management of supplies, and school displays. 
  • Co‐mentor an Art Intern Teacher. 
  • Maintain established classroom procedures and a positive learning environment. 
  • Collaborate with grade level classroom teachers. 
  • Perform other school related duties such as supervising children on the playground, attending 
  • meetings, contacting parents, and writing progress reports.

Bay Area Independent School Art Teacher Meeting- date change!

Please join us Tuesday April 29th May 13th from 8:30am-12pm at the Chinese American International School (CAIS) and the French American International School (FAIS) for discussion, idea exchange and presentation of the art programs of these two schools.  This session will focus on visual art at the elementary level (grades K-5) but art educators from all levels are welcome.  The schedule is below, please RSVP to Lisa Ostapinski by Friday April 25th May 9th so we know how many people to expect. In your RSVP please indicate discussion topics you would like to participate in and lead! Email Lisa Ostapinski (CAIS art instructor) at l_ostapinski [at] cais.org with any questions.  We hope to see you there!

8:30-9am Welcome, light breakfast and coffee/tea provided
9-10am Introduction of the CAIS and FAIS elementary division art programs and a tour of the school hallways/FAIS art room (includes a tour of the FAIS Kindergarten program hallways, they have a very strong and unique visual art component to their Kindergarten curriculum)
10:15-11:15 Break out into discussion groups
11:15-12 lunch in the art room (bring your own lunch)


FAIS and CAIS are located at 150 Oak St. in San Francisco (in the same building)
