Burke School is an independent K-8 girls’ school located on a 3 1/2 acre campus
in San Francisco. Based on a 100-year tradition of educational excellence,

development of fundamental and higher level critical thinking skills in an
atmosphere of creativity, exploration, and academic rigor.
Position
Summary
• Full time
• 6 weeks
Responsibilities include:
·
Teaching art to fifth
and sixth graders (two classes each grade, 18-23 students, meeting for
50-minute periods twice in each six-day rotation)
·
Teaching two
105-minute classes each six-day rotation to a smaller class of seventh graders
·
Teaching small eighth
grade art electives (Urban Arts and Interactive Sculpture)
·
Serving as advisor to a group of 12
eighth graders (meeting daily for morning homeroom and Monday, Wednesday and
Friday afternoons for a 35-minute discussion/activity period
Position
Requirements
·
Experience teaching
art, including contemporary art, preferably to middle school students
• Familiarity
with an independent school environment helpful, but not necessary
